Open World Forum call for proposals - associated events
The third Open World Forum will be held in Paris, France, on
30
September and 1 October 2010. It will feature two days of
plenary sessions, events and associated seminars. There is
also
a plan to create an additional `Geek Day'
<http://owf.ayeba.org/wiki/index.php?title=Geek_day>
dedicated
to developers, which could take place the day before or the
day
after the core OWF event.
Our ambition for 2010 is to create a world-changing event,
clearly demonstrating that OPEN IS THE FUTURE, with three
main
themes: Open Innovation, Open Enterprise and Open Society. In
addition to the main conference event, we are also seeking
proposals for short presentations (FLOSS Vision) and
associated
events, which are aligned with these themes. This call for
proposals is open to all.
The success of this third OWF event will depend on the
variety
and rich content of associated events. These presentations
and
events will generate large crowds of participants, complement
the plenary sessions, and contribute to the whole momentum of
the Forum.
Proposals for talks and associated events should be made
directly on the Program Committee wiki: OWF Program Committee
wiki <http://owf.ayeba.org/>
The deadline for submissions is 30 March 2010.
The Forum advisory board, whose chairman is Philippe
Montarges,
has put me in charge of organizing these associated events.
Since the Open World Forum is an international event, we
request
that all candidates interested in giving a presentation or in
co-ordinating an associated event must submit their
proposals in
English, giving as much detail as possible.
The proposed events may take various formats: from short,
six-minute FLOSS Vision talks to full-day seminars or
workshops.
Given the original spirit of the Forum, and the small number
of
available rooms, we would like to encourage sessions that:
Bring people together and are multi-disciplinary, focusing on
cross-pollination of FLOSS communities
Combine an exploration of new fields and the achievement of
innovative visions or solutions
Display international or European collaboration.
We will also reserve part of the agenda for French speaking
events.
The selection will be made by the Program Committee, based on
the above criteria. The Program Committee may suggest merging
proposals.
The expected audience of 1,500 attendees will include many
technological gurus, decision-makers, investors, IT Managers
and
CIOs, journalists… This is the best opportunity to shape
the digital future worldwide, and raise awareness for your
projects.
I'm looking forward to meeting you all there. Please feel
free
to contact me for more information.
Yours freely,
Alexis Monville

PS: Company and solution-specific presentations will take
place
in the IT Show Room. For more information, please contact
Patrice Bertrand (patrice.bertrand@xxxxxxxx)
PPS: The events will be divided into nine key tracks: Open
Innovation(Open R&D platforms, Open Communities, Open
Cloud),Open Enterprise (Open Business Models, Open Digital
Content, Open CIO) and Open Society (Open Government, FLOSS
Policies, Digital Inclusion). Ideally, you should propose
events
or talks that fit into one or several of these tracks.
However,
other innovative proposals will also be fully considered.
