Hi everyone,
Here are the notes from the European Marketing Symposium held at ESE 2009. You'll see that for next year, interest is focused on these areas:

- planning Eclipse days
- select vertical to target for 2010 - plan approach to industry associations
- plan co-marketing with media members; targetting vertical conferences

We've put a hold on the European Marketing WG calls for now, and will work on getting preliminary discussions going on this mailing list. Ideas for content, implementation or directions are all welcome.

Aufruf zu Beiträgen für Ausgabe 02/2010 Neues Schwerpunktthema: Lean Software Development Einreichung der Entwürfe bis zum 02. November 2009 Aufgrund der hohen Lesernachfrage haben wir kurzfristig entschieden, den Schwerpunkt für das Heft 2/2010 zu ändern. Nach dem zweiten Weltkrieg hat Toyota damit begonnen, Entwicklung und Produktion seiner Fahrzeuge zu revolutionieren. Was ursprünglich den Beschränkungen der Nachkriegszeit in Japan geschuldet war, half Toyota zum erfolgreichsten Autobauer weltweit zu werden. Die Trias aus Lean Management, Lean Development und Lean Production ist mittlerweile zum oft kopierten aber nie wirklich erreichten Standard im Automobil- und Maschinenbau geworden – trotz aller Kritik, die sich immer wieder daran entzündet. Im Jahr 2003 begannen Mary und Tom Poppendieck die Prinzipien auf Softwareentwicklung zu übertragen und schufen damit das jüngste Kind in der Familien agiler Verfahren. Mittlerweile erfährt dieses Verfahren große Aufmerksamkeit; insbesondere der Einsatz iterationsloser Planungstechnik nach Kanban wird derzeit heftig diskutiert als Alternative zu klassischer agiler Planung nach XP oder Scrum. In diesem Heft wollen wir den aktuellen Stand im Lean Software Development vorstellen und praktische Erfahrungen diskutieren. Beispiele für Themen sind: • Praktiken des Lean Software Development • Projektberichte über den Einsatz • Kanban ständige Verbesserung • Andere Übertragungen des Lean Wertesystems auf Softwareentwicklung • Studien zur Marktdurchdringung • Spezielle Werkzeuge Bitte senden Sie Ihren ausgearbeiteten Entwurf bis zum 02.11.2009 an fachartikel@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. In der Einreichung sollten auch die folgenden Informationen enthalten sein: - Basis (z.B. Projektbericht, Studie, zusammenfassende Überlegungen, Forschungsarbeit) Kontaktinformationen des Hauptautors (Name, Vorname, Unternehmen, E-Mail, Telefonnummer) - Kurzbiografie des/der Autor(en) inklusive der Beziehung zu dem Thema; Falls dies nicht Ihre erste Veröffentlichung ist, nennen Sie bitte auch Ihre letzten Veröffentlichungen. Je besser der Vorschlag beurteilbar ist, umso höher sind die Chancen, dass er angenommen wird. Beiträge sollen einen Umfang zwischen 16.000 und 24.000 Zeichen haben (ohne Leerzeichen). Gehen Sie als Richtwert von 4-6 Wordseiten inklusive Ihrer Abbildungen aus. Bitte beachten Sie auch unsere Autorenrichtlinien, insbesondere die Annahmerichtlinien im Abschnitt "Welche Artikel suchen wir?" Mark your Eclipse Summit Europe 2009 calendars for the symposium, Marketing Eclipse in Europe - Knowledge Cafe, on Tuesday, Oct. 27th 15:30-17:30.

The goal of the event is to set the stage for the marketing working group initiatives for the coming quarters. Mike Milinkovich, Executive Director, Eclipse Foundation, will open the Cafe with an informal talk: "Engaging the Eclipse Community: how not to ask your boss to get involved in open source". Then we'll target the discussion on market trends, our experiences from the last year and ideas for 2010. We're looking forward to a lively discussion!

In just over 2 weeks, Eclipse Summit Europe will start in Ludwigsburg, Germany. If you plan to attend, now would be a good time to register.

Each year, Eclipse Summit Europe is a great opportunity for members of the Eclipse community to meet, network and learn about the latest Eclipse technology. We encourage all Eclipse committers and members of the Eclipse Foundation to attend this annual Eclipse European conference. It will be 3 days well spent.
