Re: [eclipse.org-eclipsecon-program-committee] Hackethon at ECE 2013

Hi Christian -- good points. We'll just wait a bit and see what we end up with.

I dont mind if you check with John, but I think they have been to ECE before and are aware of the WLAN limitations that we have all the time. :-)

Also he mentions preparation. So I assume that the plan is to have a setup prepared for everyone that they can download before the conference.

Last not least, the hackathon is still an idea. So my guess would be that the actual tasks and requirements are still hanging in the air……

Christian, I love the idea of a hackathon. But one thing we need to find out is their Internet needs so we can work that out. Do you want me to check with John?

Hi PC,

I received a letter (yes another letter) from John Arthorne today say that the 4 people from the Eclipse JDT team (including himself) like to come to the ECE and prepare a hackethon. I think its a terrific idea. Any thought again are welcome.

He probably appreciates if someone likes to get involved. Here is his email

Has there been any discussion of having a Hackathon at EclipseCon Europe this year? It looks like we (IBM) will be sending about 4 people from Platform/JDT who can participate. I expect others like Lars Vogel and Tom Schindl would be interested in helping too. My experience from the attempt in Boston is that having it a day or two before the conference starts was not very successful. Maybe an evening event during the main conference (like BoFs) would work better? Also announcing it well in advance so people can plan on attending helps.
