Actually, I did reach out
earlier this week through his PR team. I am not holding my breath.
My working assumption was that if he actually confirmed we could work something
out in the schedule ;)
I also bought a lottery ticket.
Will let you know both outcomes.

In the interest of fairness to the real Steve Jobs do we want to
extend him an invitation?

With 88% of the precincts
reporting, I am declaring the following landslide winners:
Fake Steve Jobs (13 to 2)
Mitchell Baker (13 to 1)
Cory Doctorow (11 to 3)
Mitchell and Cory have been
contacted, and we are awaiting a response. Our budget may change the
results.

Folks,
To be clear, here is the current
lineup options:
Day 1 – Humorous
(1a) Fake Steve Jobs –
contacted, available, $15-$20k – Doug has started negotiations
(1b) Joel again
Day 2 – Open Source
(2a) Sam Ramji –
contacted, available, no $
(2b) Mitchell Baker – Mike
to contact
Day 3 – Technical
(3a) Cory Doctorow – *see
below
(3b) Martin Fowler –John
to contact
*Bjorn’s
comment on Cory: “He's more relevant than Scott Adams and a better
speaker too. He's interested in openness, copyright, open source, etc. He's
technologically knowledgeable, he even writes code himself, although he's
primarily an author. He doesn't know the Eclipse code base.”
Please vote on preference ASAP.

To be honest, I would be happy
with either. You guys make the call.
I do know Mitchell well enough
to ask her. Do you want me to go ahead and do that?

So is the preference to pursue
Mitchell instead of Sam Ramji from Microsoft?
Mike M – do you have an
opinion? Can to contact her to asses interest and cost (free, please) ?

Hi,
Just another idea - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitchell_Baker
If available, her content would obviously be a great fit.
You can see her here:

IF there is interest, we can ask Mike to contact her.
