RE: [eclipse.org-eclipsecon-program-committee] Something to thinkabout
|
I would suggest that we make sure it is very clear if we are inviting
someone to do a Keynote or a keynote (that is a parallel session). If we
are inviting senior executives of the major software companies, they will be
expecting to doing a Keynote talk.

I don't know the numbers. If you're happy that this is being taken care of,
I'm happy.

Mike,
I sort of agree and sort of disagree. For one, we could have more than six
keynote-like talks. If we have capital-K Keynotes (everybody attends) and
little-k keynotes (parallel with other sessions), then we could fit in more
talks. Or if we have keynotes morning, after lunch, and then at the end of
the day we could have eight instead of six.
But, yes, each of the three sub-committees was given a "fill a minimum of
one or a maximum of two" keynote slots.
I know people are trying hard to get keynote speakers set up for EclipseCon
2006. One thing I would ask you to keep in mind is to be careful that we
don't accidentally end up with too many. It would be rather embarrassing for
the Eclipse Foundation to tell a senior executive that we've changed our
mind and no longer want them to speak at our conference.
