[eclipse.org-committers] Infra status update: Stale bug "ping" service, new website skin, SVN...

Greetings,

Stale Bug "ping" service

Your project may have older bugs that are inactive, still open and not getting any attention.  We've created a gentle "ping" service that can post a comment on one or two old (> 2 yrs) bugs randomly throughout the day.  Here is an example of a stale bug that was resolved as a result of this automated service:

https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=288721

This service is opt-in, and you can opt-out at any time.  If you'd like to try it for your project, please drop us a note (webmaster@xxxxxxxxxxx) or post a comment on the original request for such a service:  http://bugs.eclipse.org/430819

New look for eclipse.org coming soon

Last week we announced the upcoming release of a new skin for www.eclipse.org Please test your project pages!  More info in Christopher's announcement: http://eclip.se/1H and Ian's blog post:

SVN is being retired

Some time ago the SVN system was deprecated.  At this time, we are announcing that SVN service at Eclipse.org will be terminated on December 22, 2014.  All projects[1] still on SVN should request migration to Git by filing a bug against Community > Git.  More here: http://eclip.se/401737

SWF Flash vulnerabilities

There are many known vulnerabilities with the SWF file format, some of them could be problematic for our website and for our users. We are preparing to no longer serve these files through our web servers, and such content either be converted to a format that is more secure or moved to another service, such as YouTube.  Please see this link for the details (it is a committers-only bug) and for the list of top-level directories that contain such content:

Thank you for reading.  If you have any questions or concerns, or if you need assistance with anything, please don't hesitate to contact us at webmaster@xxxxxxxxxxx.  We're here to help.

Denis

[1] We are making a single exception for the Subversive project who may continue to use SVN for their main code repo.
