[eclipse.org-committers] Quick Webmaster update: new Webmaster, upcoming upgrades, bugzilla upgrades, weee!

Greetings,

== New Webmaster ==
I'd like to introduce you to Karl Matthias, the newest member of the Foundation's IT team. Working in Portland, Oregon, USA, Karl will be working with Foundation staff in helping improve the infrastructure and adding new functionality, while providing additional support for our committers and the community via the webmaster@xxxxxxxxxxx Inbox and bugzilla queues.

With Karl's arrival, the Foundation will be providing live Webmaster support for the entire workday across North America (excluding Hawaii, but if you're committing from Hawaii, you have nothing to complain about): 8am to 8pm Eastern, or roughly 5am to 5pm Pacific. Should the Foundation need another IT hire in the future, the strategy would be to hire someone located in Europe to increase IT support coverage even more.

Please give Karl a warm welcome by bombarding his Inbox (karl.matthias@xxxxxxxxxxx) with welcome messages.

== Upcoming Upgrades ==
Also, as a quick reminder, we'll be continuing our server OS upgrades this weekend, as desribed on the wiki [1]. There will be a short Bugzilla outage while we switch the Master database server role to the Primary server, as Bugzilla doesn't support being put into Read Only mode. Other websites (which don't support a read-only mode) may be affected by this, such as eclipseplugincentral.com. Eclipse.org and wiki.eclipse.org both support being put in read-only mode, and will be unaffected (edits will be temporarily disabled). The read-only constraint is to allow us to make sure the two database servers are in perfect sync before switching from one server to the other.

== Bugzilla Upgrades ==
While Bugzilla is out of service, I'll be upgrading to Bugzilla 2.22.x, as described in [2] to be able to solve [3].

As usual, if you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us or post comments in the appropriate bugs.

Denis
