1. Platform Release 3.1
Many of you are gearing up for 3.1, and so are we. Up to the release of
3.1, we will be reading webmaster@xxxxxxxxxxx e-mail sporadically after
normal business hours to better respond to urgent matters that could
affect the build process or schedule. E-mails from PMC and project leads
get our immediate attention. All this because we care. Really!
Also, the Foundation will be greatly increasing the eclipse.org
bandwidth for the duration of the 3.1 download rush.
2. Manipulating CVS from the shell == bad
We have had isolated issues (recently and in the past) caused by
committers manipulating files in the CVS repository directly from an SSH
shell, as opposed to using CVS. When files are created from a shell, the
default permissions are more secure, and don't allow anonymous PSERVER
access, thus breaking some build scripts.
If you need to shuffle files around, please contact the webmaster.
3. eclipse-dev list moderated?
A request has been made to make the eclipse-dev mailing list moderated.
Although the webmaster has no specific resources to moderate project
lists, we do recognize the eclipse-dev list as being a target for
generic newbie questions and would like to help solve the problem.
Please see bug 88250 and post comments and votes there.

4. JAR and ZIP signing
The Foundation would like to start signing JARs and ZIP files. We have
elaborated a simple process, but we'd like the feedback of anyone who
has experience doing so. Please contact me directly at
webmaster@xxxxxxxxxxx if you feel you can help.
5. e-mail and phishing
There have been several worms and phishing e-mails floating about
lately. I get several e-mails from myself claiming my eclipse.org
account is disabled. You probably all know how to recognize the good
ones from the bad ones, so I'll leave it at that.
6. planeteclipse.org
planeteclipse.org is officially hosted by the Foundation. If you have a
blog, please send me the link to your feed so we can add you to the
aggregation.
Thanks for reading. If you have any specific comments, issues or
questions, please feel free to contact Sujay or I directly at
webmaster@xxxxxxxxxxx.
