As per the Eclipse Development Process, we are notifying the Eclipse Membership-at-Large of the intent of International Technology Group, Inc. (ITG), to propose the OHF project as part of the Technology PMC.

A brief description of the project is below. A project proposal will be posted on http://www.eclipse.org/ in a week or so.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Project Declaration for "Open Healthcare Framework (OHF)"

The mission of OHF is to build an interoperable, extensible, open-source healthcare framework and a set exemplary tools on top of the Eclipse Platform. The goal of OHF is to enable software providers to create specialized, differentiated offerings for the healthcare industry, which comply with government regulations and industry standards.

This project will build a framework that consists of a comprehensive, standards-based information model coupled with a set of integrated services for data exchange, identity management, and business process work flow management. It will implement industry standards which support electronic healthcare records (“eHR”), HIPAA compliance, and process automation. The model will support document/message creation, compilation, transport, translation, storage and presentation—all while maintaining an environment that assures document/message integrity, confidentiality and interoperability. It will provides comprehensive support for HL7 protocol specification standards based upon the HL7 Version 3 Reference Information Model.
