Re: [eclipse.org-architecture-council] AC 10-Nov Meeting Notes

I think the main reason these things are coming up is that we have no
organization that represents the Eclipse IDE where these things can be
organized. The ide-dev list seems to be the only thing, but that¹s not
very formal.

Also, a lot of us old timers joined the Architecture Council because we
are technical experts with a strong interest in Architecture. That never
has seemed to be the mandate of the council, and really, the council
doesn¹t have much power to affect anything architecturally other than to
get together and have a place to talk about these issues.

As Eclipse has diversified beyond the IDE, it would be impossible to find
architectural issues that are of interest to everyone. The only thing
common is what Wayne is suggesting with project mentorship.

In the end, we need to find a home for the IDE topics and maybe the
Architecture Council is not the appropriate home. As Mickael suggested,
we¹re self organizing these things anyway. It makes it hard to pin down
what exactly is going on, but we¹ll keep trying.

Doug.
