[eclipse.org-architecture-council] Mentoring opportunity for hot new project in the M2M space

Don't pass up on this fantastic opportunity to make a difference in the M2M space! Time is limited! Operators are standing by!

Kura offers a Java/OSGi-based container for M2M applications running in service gateways. Kura provides or, when available, aggregates open source implementations for the most common services needed by M2M applications. Kura components are designed as configurable OSGi Declarative Service exposing service API and raising events. While several Kura components are in pure Java, others are invoked through JNI and have a dependency on the Linux operating system.

M2M is arguably the biggest growth area in the Eclipse project space; I do not recall any other time in Eclipse history when we've received so many new proposals in such a short period of time.

Unfortunately, identifying mentors for these new projects has been a real challenge. Either nobody volunteers, or it's the same small subset of our ranks who step up to help.

I've already got Benjamin Cabé listed as a mentor on Kura. He's one of our peers in that latter camp of folks who are doing a lot of the heavy lifting on our behalf: once we're done creating all the projects in the proposal queue, he's going to be a very busy mentor. I'll note that he's demonstrated that he's quite good in the role. This is an excellent opportunity for a first-time mentor to work with somebody who has some experience.

Any takers?
