I just want to write good code, help others, and have fun in the process, how
does the foundation help me ?

SWTBot is a project with a single committer (me), working on it late nights and
on weekends. Unlike most committers at eclipse.org, I get encouragement from my
employer to work on this, but do not get paid for it.

I was hoping that the move to eclipse.org was something that would help
simplify my work with SWTBot, and make it more fun for everyone involved.
Unfortunately I've come to realize that this has not been the case. It has been
a huge step back in time in the process of moving to eclipse.org. 

Here are some of the pains I've observed in the process, which I'd like to
highlight, and am looking for help that may ease the lives of the small guys
like myself who want to move to eclipse.org.Eclipse I feel is a rather heavily
biased towards the heavy weights.

* some of the really old legacy tools
** cvs for managing the website (more on the website)
** svn for managing the code 

DCVS is not for just for committers, but for contributors who can fork the
code, make local checkins and later file a patch upstream. The discomfort of
being able to check-in my changes because a contributor not a committer may be
a barrier for the contributor to send in patches.

* the website:
** The website is based on a php based framework that I feel has outlived it's
lifetime. The entire eclipse.org website is now in a consistently-unusable (but
consistent-looking) state. Is the common look and feel enough of a price to pay
for making the website unusable ? The old website was based on a simple wiki
markup that anyone could edit and send in patches. Now I'm having to deal with
a website, and a wiki.

Looking back in time, I'm not very sure if moving to eclipse.org was the enough
of a price to pay for the pains that I'm having to deal with on a daily basis,
and I'm hoping that the council has something to say about these issues.
