RE: [eclipse.org-architecture-council] Nomination of Linda Chan for theArchitecture Council
|
Hi Martin!
The archives seem to mask the e-mail
addresses, so you're probably better off doing a general search in the
newsgroup and mailing list archives for "linda actuate dtp".
I found many many references in the newsgroups and mailing lists. I'm including
a couple of google search URLs below:
http://www.google.com/custom?hq=inurl%3Adev.eclipse.org%2Fmhonarc%2Flists%2F&hl=en&client=pub-6797025590085056&channel=2647719120&cof=FORID%3A1%3BAH%3Aleft%3BCX%3AEclipse%2520Foundation%2520Search%3BL%3Ahttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2Fcoop%2Fintl%2Fen%2Fimages%2Fcustom_search_sm.gif%3BLH%3A65%3BLP%3A1%3BVLC%3A%23551a8b%3BGFNT%3A%23666666%3BDIV%3A%23cccccc%3B&adkw=AELymgW3rNWN3N2ZZWlVe6pEbOlS-2hAtcSQ3fQ6TOjlpVP6TYek5dGcWRP5QwxspExG6Fi6h3l4V-w4mrz8gB8CLtm57CYIWGVHz2c3dHqY6cFvotE3rOYWJFhTANI1HWBBVuPmBoC4&q=linda+actuate+dtp&btnG=Search&cx=017941334893793413703%3Asqfrdtd112s

And here's a CVS search that returns
400 or so hits where Linda either created the bug or commented on it.

Hope that helps!

Whow, this sounds impressive!
Especially given that Linda's working for
Actuate so she's not a direct co-worker of yours.
I quickly checked the Bugzilla
"Eclipse Foundation / Community" component
and didn't find a single comment where lchan@xxxxxxxxxxx
was a commenter
or on CC; I also quickly checked the recent DTP-PMC
archives [1] and couldn't
immediately see any substantial
contribution.
So, given that I do not know Linda
personally, I'm going to vote "0" unless
you can cite any publicly visible contribution in addition to your personal
recommendation?

Subject: [eclipse.org-architecture-council] Nomination of Linda Chan
for theArchitecture Council
Hi all...
After getting the great feedback from Mike M & Martin on what it takes
to nominate someone for the Architecture Council, I'd like to nominate
Linda Chan as a potential candidate for the EAC.
Linda leads the
Open Data
Access development
in the DTP Connectivity sub-project, as well as serve on the PMC since
DTP started, and works for Actuate Corporation. She also serves as
the DTP Incubator project lead.
Through the last few years, she's been instrumental
in helping shepherd the Data Tools Platform
project from its inception to where we
are today. She always has the best interests of not only DTP in mind, but
the DTP and BIRT communities as well, making sure that changes we make
a) make sense and b) add value.
She is not afraid to speak her mind on topics
affecting not only coding in DTP, but policies and procedures as well.
She often brings up points of view that quite frankly didn't occur to me
or other members of the DTP PMC, which is nearly always refreshing.
Over the last year, she's been mentoring the Ecore-ODA project in the DTP
Incubator and we've seen it grow not only technologically, but by leaps
and bounds in the community. She was instrumental in helping the developers
working on the project get their feet pointed in the right direction.
As such, I think her technological chops, community-driven mindset and
mentoring skills would make her a great candidate for the AC. With the
AC taking more of an active "steering committee" approach now
in terms of mentorship, providing solid examples, and helping guide policies
and procedures where necessary, Linda would fit right in and be willing
to contribute immediately to the broader Eclipse community.
Please vote for recommending Linda Chan to Mike as a new EAC member.
+1 from Brian Fitzpatrick
Thanks!
