Re: [eclipse-dev] New target milestones for maintenance branches

Also, I created a simple wiki page describing how the Eclipse top-level project uses bugzilla, and added a description of these target milestones to that page. Thanks to WTP from whom I cribbed much of this wiki content. Feel free to expand on the information available on this page:

[eclipse-dev] New target milestones for maintenance branches

As discussed in this week's architecture call, The Eclipse PMC would like a public way to track what bug fixes are released into older maintenance branches (R3_4_maintenance and earlier).  Committers will sometimes release fixes for severe defects into these older development branches for support purposes, but we currently have no way other than comparing CVS branches to see what fixes have been released. To support this goal, I have created the following new bugzilla target milestones for Platform/JDT/PDE:

3.3.2+  -> For fixes released into the R3_3_maintenance branch *after* the 3.3.2 release

3.4.2+  -> For fixes released into the R3_4_maintenance branch *after* the 3.4.2 release

3.5.2+  -> For fixes released into the R3_5_maintenance branch *after* the 3.5.2 release (nobody should be using this yet)

Please use these target milestones from now on for bug fixes that are released into these older maintenance streams. This will allow everyone in the community who may be interested in viewing/consuming these fixes to find them.

John
