Actually, that cost is zero, too. What we're asking is platform to
define a way to keep the context menu to a sane size. That in itself
doesn't change anything. It will be a while for projects to pick the new
standard up.
BUT. The later we introduce this new standard, the longer it will take
until pressing the right mouse button won't hang Eclipse for a few
moments until it has figured out what to show.
Nobody has a problem if the change doesn't make it in the June release.
The change is simple enough. Teams can start to work on it right after
the 3.4 release and the impact is low enough to include it in 3.4.1 (or
whatever), so we will probably see this in most plug-ins this year.
Alas, if someone decided to be undecided about it and postpone and be
afraid about it, then we might see this next year. Or not at all. Or we
might talk and talk and talk and nothing will ever be done. IMHO, we
already put more energy in killing this feature than just implementing it.
And if you feel that it confuses people that the menu point moved, then
do it in two steps: Add a dialog under the old menu name which says
"This feature has been moved to ..." and in the next major release, kill
this old menu entry. Eclipse is not a piece of paper, it can talk to the
user and tell them what has changed when they want to hear about it.
