[eclipse-dev] eclipse hangs up

yesterday I had to stop a building process with the taskmanager: (win xp 
, eclipse 3.0)
today I wanted to restart eclipse but after appearing the eclipse logo, 
the memory (about 190 mb) and the cpu  (99 %) increases because of the 
javaw process.

can somebody explain or help me , how this could be possible and what 
solution can be done?
