[eclipse-dev] Announcing The Java Developer's Guide to Eclipse, Second Edition

The second edition to The Java Developer's Guide to Eclipse is now available. This is a major update to the popular first edition and focuses on providing thorough and up to date coverage of Eclipse 3.0. Here are some highlights:

- Like the first edition, the book provides deep coverage on how to use Eclipse and how to extend Eclipse
- Every chapter was thoroughly revised to and updated for Eclipse 3.0.
- Seven new chapters, three new exercises, and hundreds of pages of new material have been added
- Expanded coverage on how to use Eclipse effectively, including an exercise that illustrates creation of a web application using Eclipse
- A special focus on the new Eclipse Rich Client platform including two RCP exercises
- An expanded CD-ROM with many new examples. All are fully documented as an Eclipse Help plug-in. Eclipse 3.0 and 3.01 are included on the CD
- The preface is authored by Dave Thomson, Eclipse Program Director, IBM.

This edition is the culminaiton of over nine months of intense effort by the authors to expose the features and opportunities offered by Eclipse 3.0. The first edition was the recipient of a 2004 Editor's Choice Award by the Java Developer's Journal. The authors intention in the second edition is to continue to provide the authoritative reference on the subject of Eclipse.
