Re: [ecf-dev] Missed the call

Hi,

If you now look at Salvo, it is more or less a traditional newsreader.
This is cool to show that it works but I now envision a tight
integration into the workbench.

Projects like ECF or RCP or JDT could hook into a new extension point

org.eclipse.ecf.newsgroup

where projects could advertise their newsgroups.

Then, if the user gets stuck with something or if some error occurs,
the user can start the command "Ask a question". This would start a
wizard that let the user select the newsgroup from the extension point
(or this was already preselected) and then let the user as a question.

The workbench would take not of this question and if an answer
appeared, it would advertise this.

This is one of the things that an "Aware Workbench" would do. I have
been thinking about this since the idea manifested [1]

Does this make some sense to you?

Best regards,

Wim
