[ecf-dev] Announce: REST API inclusion into ECF

Hi Folks,

I'm happy to report that the REST API work done by Holger Staudacher for his 2009 Google SOC project [1] has been reviewed and approved by the Eclipse Foundation IP team (see [2]), and as of this morning the api and test bundles have been committed/released to HEAD in the ECF CVS repository. This new API will be included in ECF 3.1 (an upcoming minor release for us). I've added this bundle to the ECF core feature and map file, and it is now being built (by the old builder for the moment) for the ECF daily builds from HEAD. I've also updated the project set files with these new bundles...see the ECF releng project in org.eclipse.ecf/releng/org.eclipse.ecf.releng/*.psf.

Also, Holger has agreed to become an ECF committer to support and extend this work, and I've nominated him for committership. Existing committers please don't make the same mistake I did and wait to long to vote...the vote is only a week long and the foundation portal doesn't send multiple notices about voting. So vote early and often :).

Thanks to Holger for the contribution and all the good work...both already completed and to come.

Scott
