Re: [ecf-dev] FYI: Google Wave Federation Prototype Server

Hi Mustafa,

I've been looking at the project a little bit this am, and browsing through the source. It looks like it may have had the involvement/contribution of some of the Google Wave/waveprotocol people (e.g. Sam Thorogood and Dan Bentley...and perhaps others that I don't recognize). The package namespace they are using in the code is org.waveprotocol.*.

The (very) good news is that it's apparently licensed under Apache 2. The protocol implementation could then (very easily, almost trivially) be used to create a ECF container for Google Wave as per https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=280347. At a certain point it might be useful for us to contact the authors directly to ask about coordinating a code contribution to ECF (as Google is an EF member).

Just for everyone's reference, there are two ECF enhancement requests relevant to adding support for Google Wave inter-server protocol:

Add Google Wave provider to ECF: https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=280347 Equinox-based XMPP server: https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=235844
