Re: [ecf-dev] ECF-RFC119 is working with DS

Scott,

I'm probably going to put together a blog post on what I've learned right after I finish the one on dynamically configured declarative services. If you see anything in the blog that you want to re-use, I can make it available.

Hi Bryan,

Great to hear.
If possible, I would appreciate any example code contributions you could/would make...and any issues identified/fixed along the way (ECF issues of course, but also issues with tooling/launch configs, your local network environment, etc). The hope here is that the community can share knowledge so that everything can be made easier for people over time (by fixing/enhancing ECF of course, but also by dealing with or at least documenting tooling difficulties, runtime issues, network issues, ...e.g. wrt discovery, ds issue, etc...i.e. everything that goes into building Equinox-based distributed systems).

This sentiment goes for all that are interested in any parts of ECF. Frankly, as a non-corporate sponsored open source project we need to depend slightly more on the community (you) than if we had large-scale resources for the project. I can't/won't try to hide that fact. But I believe the good news is that as a non-corporate entity we are free to do some things (in terms of open systems and interoperability) that other projects might have a harder time doing...and as committers we will do everything possible to support the successful usage of RFC119, ECF remote services, and the other pieces of ECF.
Thanks for everyone's efforts. <speech off...I promise> :).

Scott

I finally managed to get ECF RFC119 working with DS on both the client and server. I was debugging a non-existent code problem ... the update.configurator bundle made it's way into my launch config and when that bundle is started, auto_start of all other bundles is ignored.
