[ecf-dev] GSoC project introduction

Hi all,

I am Nuwan Samarasekera, a 3rd year undergraduate at University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka specializing in Computer Science and Engineering. I am working on implementing a specific google services provider for the ECF as my GSoC 2009 project. 

About Me:

I have participated at several international programming competitions including IOI and ACM regionals. I have done programming in C++ for nearly more than 5 years and 2+ years in java. I have created an IM client  with novel whiteboarding facilities based on the jabber protocol. I havent been involved in open source development before and is thus very exicted about participating in this program.

About the project:

currently the google talk users are forced to use the more generic xmpp provider in ecf thus 
limiting the users from utilizing the many additional features provided by GTalk such as off the record chatting, email notifications, voice chat, video chat etc. I will be working on creating a dedicated provider for Google services in ecf thus making it possible to utilize the extended features provided by googleTalk through ECF.
