[e4-dev] Invitation for joining to the Distributed Development Team

Hi Platform UI committers and contributors,

We have shipped Luna that was a great release in my opinion. We definitely made a major progress in order to make Eclipse based on the E4 technology better. However there is still plenty of room for improvement.

In Mars we would like to plan each incoming milestone separately in order to better follow the Agile practices. The planning of each new milestone will be done during our bi-weekly meeting that takes place before beginning of the milestone. During the planning we will select the bugs for the milestone from our 4.5 priority list - https://wiki.eclipse.org/Platform_UI/Plan/4.5/Planning_Bugs. The list will be updated during the release in order to better reflect the state of Mars

Additionally we would like gather together committers and contributtors that want to work on the priority list of Mars together with us and build in this way the team called Distributed Development Team.
The members of the team will really try to deliver the bugs they signed up during our planning, participate in the milestone week by testing, fixing and providing the N&N entries where applicable.
All members of the team will be listed on the following WIKI page what will increase significantly their visibility in the project - https://wiki.eclipse.org/Platform_UI/Plan/4.5/Milestones

Hence I would like to invite you for achieving our plan of the 4.5 release together as members of the Distributed Development Team

In order to join the DDT you can send me proper note by e-mail, join our planning meeting and select the bugs for the new milestone or send me the bugs you want to take via e-mail. You can join us anytime during the release and you can also drop off after completing your milestone. The DDT will have a dynamic nature and it can change from milestone to milestone. I'm going to send proper planning invitations earlier, so you can start to think about the incoming planning and eventually about joining the DDT in the new milestone

If you find the DDT idea interesting, feel free to join us. We are waiting for you. Of course patches that don't follow the 4.5 release plan as well as all other forms of your activity are also welcome as usual.

thanks,
Daniel
