A little bit of topic: How does fragment overloading work?

Hi,
I know we have probably more important things to do but the icons
presented for Run, New Class in the toolbar look ugly because they are
GIFs and have a whiteborder.
Are the sources for icons available to us so that we can save them as
PNG (with a .gif suffix :-) and use fragment-overloading to replace the
icons through PNGs. This would make the e4 experience a lot better.
