ECF does have a separate bundle/API (org.eclipse.ecf.storage) that 
allows the usage of Equinox secure storage to persist and revive 
Namespaces and IDs.  And of course other persistence mechanisms (other 
than Equinox secure storage) can/could be similarly used.

But I'm not completely sure if this addresses what you want to do.
