RE: [dtp-pmc] DTP 1.6.1 M1 milestone request
|
I can already foresee the need to continue deliver bug
fixes to the 1.6.1 HEAD stream for the M2 milestone soon after 7/25. This
is to acommodate other adopters' consumption of the M2 build.
So I would like some modification to the steps. That is after the
7/25 build for 1.6.1 M1, folks can continue to deliver code to HEAD branch for
daily M2 build, i.e. does not require approval for "big" need.
If there are critical bugs that need to go into M1 during the 2-week rampdown
period, we will branch based on the M1 tagged version for those critical
fixes.

+1 So to sum up: * Using the 7/25 build as the 1.6.1 M1 milestone build and asking folks
to not deliver code to the 1.6.1 stream. If it turns out there's a big need to
do so, we can branch the 1.6.1 M1 stream and keep developing in HEAD.
* The 1.6.1 M1 build will then be
released and available as both download zips and on a corresponding update site
on August 7. * At that time (unless
we branched prior), we will branch and open up development again for the 1.6.1
M2 milestone at the end of August. Brian Fitzpatrick

request |

Dear PMC,
In order to accommodate for IBM's consumption of the
DTP 1.6.1 build, we would like the PMC to consider making the 1.6.1 M1 milestone
(as described by http://wiki.eclipse.org/DTP_1.6.1_Schedule_and_Rampdown_Policy) a more stable milestone to be delivered on August
7th with a 2 week rampdown and a corresponding
update site.
While we understand that this might impact the DTP 1.6.1 schedule. we
fully thank you for your consideration in helping IBM consume DTP.
Regards,
~Loïc
