Rob,

A couple of observations here:

1. WTP is picking up DTP in its Europa release, so the 0.9.x and 1.0.x
maintenance releases we were discussing are not really relevant to them.
They will be working with our 1.5 stream.

2. Regarding coordination of requirements in general, we have benefited
greatly from our past interaction with BIRT, and I think the communication
patterns established there will work for the WTP as well. That is, WTP will
be a major adopter of DTP as BIRT is today. As you note, requirements for
DTP might emerge internal to WTP or via feedback to WTP. BIRT has done a
very good job of making such requirements known to DTP (mostly through
Linda), and I would expect that WTP can do the same. To facilitate this
communication, we have a number of channels: Bugzilla, the mailing lists,
the newsgroup, occasional requirements calls, and informal meetings at
conferences, etc. In particular, I work on a regular basis, as part of the
Eclipse Councils, with David Williams and Tim Wagner, and I am sure they
know that they can approach DTP at any time to discuss these sorts of
things.

Hey folks,

During our weekly committers' meeting, Larry brought up the point that many
DTP adopters may be acquiring DTP indirectly through WTP.  Because of this,
any DTP requirements for maintenance releases may be voiced to WTP instead
of DTP.  Given that, it may be beneficial to open a communications channel
with WTP specific to this issue.
