Re: [dtp-pmc] Information about [144572] Should be able to connect to all the database available in WTP

Item #1 was already delivered to CVS.  #2 has just been delivered.  I'll see if I can fix the patch for #3 by tomorrow.

Larry,

The PMC will defer adding (1) to the Callisto (0.9) build, but you can
check these into Enablement anyway. The final PII deadline is end of
tomorrow (6/7), so you can check in (2) and (3), assuming a low level of
risk, for inclusion in DTP 0.9.

Here's some additional information about this defect(
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=144572):

There are basically three types of changes that I can deliver separately.
They all have new externalized strings (may impact translation) and provide
a new organization for the driver definitions to make it easier for users
to find a specific driver definition (see screenshot attached to defect.)

1)  New plug-ins

The following plug-ins have been delivered to CVS but have not been
incorporated into the build.  They provide connectivity to DB2 iSeries, DB2
zSeries, Informix and SQL Server using various JDBC drivers.

org.eclipse.datatools.enablement.ibm.db2.iseries.profile
org.eclipse.datatools.enablement.ibm.db2.zseries.profile
org.eclipse.datatools.enablement.ibm.informix.profile
org.eclipse.datatools.enablement.msft.sqlserver.profile

2)  Changes to existing enablement plug-ins

Patches have been created for Oracle, Sybase, DB2 LUW and MySQL that add
support for the various versions of these databases and additional JDBC
drivers.

3)  Changes to existing core plug-in

A patch has been created to update the Derby support to include the Derby
Client driver for accessing remote Derby databases.  This patch is not
working correctly and will need to be fixed.

Just let me know
if you would like any of these three types of changes delivered.  I'll fix
#3 if it is decided to include this functionality.
