Re: [dtp-dev] Test Connection not working

Ok, I'll add this to the build, and it will appear in M3 this Friday.

FYI. I have added the
org.eclipse.datatools.connectivity.dbdefinition.oracle plug-in into the
org.eclipse.datatools.connectivity/plugins directory in CVS and added the
driver definition to the plugin.xml in the
org.eclipse.datatools.connectivity.db.generic plug-in. The new plug-in
just needs to be added to the build system.

Here are my observation after some debugging into connectivity codebase.

1.
org.eclipse.datatools.connectivity.sqm.internal.core.connection.ConnectionInfoImpl
 (v. I011306):-
615: DatabaseDefinitionRegistry defRegistry =
RDBCorePlugin.getDefault ().getDatabaseDefinitionRegistry();
       DatabaseDefinition dbDef = defRegistry.getDefinition(vendor,
version);

dbDef seems to be null at this point and is causing NPE later.

2. I have "org.eclipse.datatools.connectivity.dbdefinition.oracle " in the
plugins directory and so I guess the definition gets picked up; though I
have no confirmation for this.

How do I get around this ?

Anthos

If it helps, I can add the Oracle driver definition and the Oracle database

If you only add the driver definition like the one I sent then you will be

will need to do a lot more work.

Thanks again.

I used the plugin's own plugin.xml to specify this extension point; I tried
the extension point (driverExtension) you sent in last email; but no
difference in behaviour. I see that Derby, DB2 and Sybase extension points
are declared/specified in the
org.eclipse.datatools.connectivity.db.generic's plugin.xml. Since the
specification is working, I guess that is not the problem. Anyway I will
try coping it there and see the difference.

Hi

Thanks for that.

I copied this dir, org.eclipse.datatools.connectivity.dbdefinition.oracle,
recursively to plugins; but it didnot make any difference; btw, there is no
stacktrace (or smoke!!).

The plugins directory contents for oracle and derby is below.

You need the Oracle DBDefinition which is currently not part of the DTP
build, however, it is currently located in the "attic" and I just updated
it so that it will work. You can checkout the
org.eclipse.datatools.connectivity.dbdefinition.oracle plug-in from
HEAD/org.eclipse.datatools.connectivity/attic/. If that doesn't fix the
problem, please send a stacktrace(), if there is one.

Hi

I am looking to build a DTP based interface to Oracle DB. I used the Derby
code as the startign point. I managed to get the Connection Driver showing
using which I can select it in the New Database wizard. It does show the
jdbc url and other details. But nothing happens when I hit "Test
Connection" or "Finish".

Any leads ?

Anthos
