I just added the following comment to the bug:

I've taken a look at this patch.  I'm not sure I like the idea of resaving the list after loading to remove the devices permanently.  If someone temporarily removed an SDK and then reloaded it, those devices would be gone and have to be reimported.  Is there a reason that the definitions can't stick around in the file, but just not be loaded?
