Re: [dsdp-mtj-dev] MTJ only on Galileo

I agree with Craig, N-1 support is "very nice to have" feature, and we should keep Ganymede builds for now.

Please note, this is relevant for the "non-Pulsar" plug-ins, not the quick-install view etc. I'm fine if the Pulsar specific code has dependencies on Galileo.

I have a concern with removing support unless it is necessary. This assumes that users will either:

1) Be able to immediately jump to 3.5 (not have plugins that depend on 3.4)
2) Maintain two Eclipse installations

Our internal tools are an example of #1. We are currently broken on 3.5. While I hope to resolve that issue, until then I'm either stuck with two installations of Eclipse or I can't use MTJ. I think this is a very common occurrence for users early in the new version release cycle. I'd really like to see us maintain N-1 support if at all possible. Throwing out support for anything prior to 3.4 seems like a no brainer, but 3.4 and 3.5 support would be nice.

What would it take to run a regular build against Ganymede to validate it is still building?

As Galileo has always been the target for MTJ, I have no problem with dropping the Ganymede support at this point.

Hi MTJ,

In some o four past meeting we talked about the possibility of keeping MTJ support both on ganymede and galileo. With the addition of all Pulsar tasks, it end up that current MTJ is only building against Galileo. MTJ runtime feature still installs/run on Ganymede, but there is no guarantee that it will continue installing since we are not building against Ganymede anymore.

I will like to hear some thoughts about that. Is it ok for everyone to keep only Galileo support or Ganymede is mandatory for MTJ??? A single target platform makes our life much easier in the build environment. Since I maintain the build environment I would vote for Galileo-only J… but I don’t want to take that decision alone
