Don’t think that upgrading from FP1 to FP2 is possible.
Installing just eSWT without an additional VM won’t be of
any value as you won’t have access from the pre-loaded VM to your post-loaded
classes (unless Nokia can provide some magic patch but haven’t heard of
that). Therefore you need to install a separate VM for which you can set the
classpath.
The Nokia eRCP (NeRCP) package comes with eSWT, eRCP and a J9
CDC/FP VM – and all that stuff is nicely integrated. Note that it does
not support the MIDlet application model (in the standard version you get from
Nokia, at least) so you’d be forced to stick with eRCP (or make it a Main
app if that’s an option).
Since you mentioned “Java libraries”: If you install
NeRCP you get OSGi and with OSGi you can add and share Java libs as many as you
like, even on the fly.

Betreff: [dsdp-ercp-dev] N95 S60 3rd Edition FP1 compatible with eSWT?
We
have an N95 S60 3rd Edition FP1 phone. My understanding is that because
this is a first generation phone it cannot be updated to FP2.
Can eSWT be installed separately on this phone -- even if officially
unsupported? If so, would we install thru the eRCP binaries? Any
other way to install the eSWT native and Java libraries?
