Sorry about the late reply. I had a short vacation away from computer. I tried 1.0 version. Same behavior occurs to me.
I read the source code in org.eclipse.dltk.console.ui.internal.ScriptConsoleView. In ScriptConsoleView constructor, the last statement is: clear()
I think that is why whenever a new script console view is created, the doc is cleared and set to “”.

Also, would you please try the latest 1.0 build from http://download.eclipse.org/technology/dltk/downloads/
It contains many fixes, probably this issue is not reproducible in it.

I could not reproduce this issue.
New console does not affect previous consoles for me. Document and history are kept intact.
Would you please provide more details how this issue could be reproduced?
