RE: [dali-dev] Dali JPA Tools Weekly Status

Hi Neil, all,

I am still wondering about the state of the "DDL generation story".

My understanding of the M7 plan (see link below) is that an extension point for platform-specific DDL-generation is now planned for M7 with high priority.

Are there already any concepts how such an extension point might look like?

What we (SAP) are hoping for is an extension point that allows to hook in a platform-specific DDL-generator to produce a DTP-(SQL)-schema from a persistence unit. (Similiar to the DDL-generation in Dali 0.5 but pluggable). Is this (roughly) what you have in mind? Or is it something entirely different.

As we are quite eagerly awaiting such an extension point, any info on it would be very helpful.

Thanks and best regards,

Adrian
