Let me add a general word of caution:
Your intentions to show solidarity with Ukraine totally make sense - from a
German point of view, from a western point of view.
I'd much hope this would be the unamimous position, but we shouldn't presume so
in our global community.
In our community we do have members with Russian background. While I hope to
have them on "our" side, we shouldn't take it for granted.
Moreover, I just learned [1] that India is among the countries trying to remain
neutral in this conflict. With the central role particularly of the
Bangalore-based team, we shouldn't be too sure about any consensus. Not without
speaking to them.
This is a discussion to be had right now, and we should be grateful for having
these contacts into many parts of the world. But I don't think, that a public
mailing list is the best channel for this. The issue is probably too complex to
be settled on this list and within a short time frame.
Maybe I'm over-cautious, but we should be mindful with our colleagues and
friends in our global community.

In special Russia and China are trying to get independent from foreign computers
by developing domestic hardware platforms “Elbrus” [1] and “LongArch” [2]. Those

explicitly support such hardware platform our software won’t run on domestic
hardware [4].
I do not like that the world is getting separated. It should be free and united.
We need to send a signal that open software is not used to suppress people.
