Thanks for the patience - CDT has made its contribution now[1] which includes completing the main parts of the restructuring[2] of org.eclipse.remote into CDT. Still a bit more to be done, follow along on bugzilla if interested[3].

CDT is still trying to get a contribution ready for 2022-03 M1 that includes the restructuring of org.eclipse.remote[1]. I think it would be much better to get this in for M1 to maximise how much time we have to resolve any issues. If I come to the conclusion I can't make it in a reasonable amount of time I will advise that later.
