Re: [cross-project-issues-dev] Incubation versus Orbit

The limitation is that you can only consume components from a release version.

Incubation is, however, viral. If a download includes bits from an incubating project, then the download needs to conform to the incubation branding requirements. e.g. if a package includes components from an incubating project, then the package must include a message along the lines of "includes incubating components".

So, you can consume incubating components, but may not want to.

Which having done that, yes, you end up not wanting too. The impact on your brand is quite damaging, speaking of EPP in particular. Which is too bad since our users miss out on some potentially really cool features.

Hi,

Why are release train projects allowed to consume from Orbit but not from our own Incubation projects? A bundle in Orbit "states" that it is consumable from an IP POV but not from a quality POV. It is really up to the consumer of the Orbit project to assess and accept the quality of the Orbit bundle.

All Incubation projects are also IP clean (and EPL). Why can (parts of) these projects not be consumed by release train projects?

Cheers,
