Thanks John and Remy for the clarification.

I just tested the RAP Tooling with 4.2M1 and as far as I can see,
everything works.

I just noticed that the UI has a couple of glitches on Linux/GTK, such
as sluggish re-layouting on resize, invisible content that just
appears on hover, etc. You probably have those things on your radar,
don't you?

Indeed, I overlooked this link. Thanks for the pointer. So if 4.2 is
going to be the primary version, I think the 4.2 versions should be
placed just next to the 3.8 ones, otherwise they won't by found. But
honestly, from my point of view the current version can not be
recommended for real development on GTK.
