Unrelated. In the bug I mentioned, p2 has a mechanism to "lock" installed software so the user is not allowed to upgrade it. This was used incorrectly which meant that the user did not have permission to upgrade M7. Miles, I suggest entering a bug for the NoClassDefFoundError problem. The error is occurring in ECF so that would be a reasonable place to start.

Incidentally, I was surprised to see it reading a legacy site.xml file during this error (http://download.eclipse.org/releases/staging/site.xml). If p2 ever loads this file, it will be extremely slow because it has to re-generate the metadata that has presumably has already been generated at build time. I have entered bug 345136 to get rid of this.
