Matthias, you have the choice :

-reopen the bug and present arguments

-change to follow the best practice decided in the bug

-stay with what you have knowing this is not a best practice vetted by the Architecture Council.

From the bug:

At EclipseCon a while back we decided the best thing to do would be to use
"org.eclipse" for the groupId of all artifacts coming from Eclipse.org proper.

We use the groupids org.eclipse.jgit and org.eclipse.egit ...
