RE: [cosmos-dev] Unable to Load the Data Managers

Hi,

I was able to fix this problem.

The following worked for me, and I need to investigate further as to why
I needed to do this. I do not propose that this is a solution, but just
to inform you that I got it to work, and this is what I did:

I changed every reference I could find to localhost (in *.xml) to the
ip of the machine I had my tomcat/domain/broker/mdrs on. I did this in
both the cosmos-demo and tomcat directories/subdirectories. ( I need
to figure which one of the localhosts' I changed, got the thing to
work).

I was then able to get the data managers populated in the ui, with no
errors from the machine where I have my eclipse IDE. Remember that
before doing this I was able to get this to work on the same machine,
and from a browser on another machine, pointing to the COSMOSUI on my
tomcat machine.

Guys,

Interestingly I now see a similar problem.

I installed the latest demo on Linux. The demo works fine from the same
machine, it works fine from another machine linking to it (I just
specify url to the COSMOSUI). It does not work when I am using my
eclipse ide developers environment, where my web.xml points to the linux
box for the management domain. Prior to this Integration build, all of
this was working fine. The error I now get is when the data managers
are being loaded, and I get the side effect message with the <HR> in it.
I will keep you posted on this, as it may be a clue as to what is
happening with other installations.

Hanu,

That message with an <HR> in it is a side effect of the actual problem.

I have tried with JRE 1.5.0_13 and Tomcat 5.5.23 and the issue is
reproducible on my machine.

Can some one suggest where is the <HR> element that I need to fix?

Thanks

Hi Pathuri,

I would first try to use the requirements outlined on the COSMOS
download
page since the COSMOS builds have been tested with this configuration.

    * Java 5 (minimum IBM SDK 5.0 or Sun JRE 1.5.0_13)
    * Apache Tomcat 5.5.23 - required by the web application

There may be issues with using JRE 1.6 that we haven't uncovered since
we
haven't tested with JRE 1.6.

Thanks,

Sheldon

Hi,

I dont see the web.xml.

What is the ip in the log : 129.46.90.221 ??? It looks as though this
is where tomcat is? does 129.46.90.221 and localhost actually point to
the same machine?

Please forgive me for asing this next question, but the screen print you

half of the browser?

Simon,

There are many web.xml. Please let me know which web.xml I should be
sending?

The URL is --- http://localhost:8080/COSMOSUI/?page=cosmos

BTW, I am adding the screen shot of accessing the UI.

As you can see, it seems to display 'Loading Data Managers ...' without
loading any data managers.

An obscure question I know, but could you tell me what ip localhost
resolves to, and could you tell me what is the exact url you enter your
web browser, and whether you are running this web browser on the same
machine as the demo is running on?

I was able to reproduce the error with Tomcat 5.5.25 with JRE set to
C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_05.

I followed all the steps for installation and started UI without using
the command-line demo.

I have also attached the Tomcat Error logs.

Please let me know how to move forward.

Thanks

I have not tried Tomcat 6.0 with COSMOS. Across the team, we are mostly
using Tomcat 5.5. I would suggest you try with 5.5 and let us know your
results.
