RE: [cosmos-dev] Apache Tomcat version requirements for COSMOS WebApplication

Hi folks,

As per the Eclipse Legal process, when it comes to third-party open source Eclipse now requires that even for prerequisites we need to submit an IPZilla request. Has it been decided which version of Tomcat is the approved version for COSMOS? If so, which committer volunteers to open an IPZilla for this prereq? (I assume that there is no IPZilla today if there's discussion about which version will be used?)

All,

COSMOS web UI does work with Tomcat 5.5.12....  Please note that we will need to publish the Tomcat requirements for BOTH the COSMOS webUI and non-webUI components...

The COSMOS UI  requires JSP specification 2.0 which is only supported in
Tomcat 5.x and higher.  Therefore, the COSMOS UI should theoretically work
in Tomcat 5.x.

We should find the minimum version that works and say "at least version
XXX".  I know that Tomcat 5.5.25 works, for instance.  My uninformed guess
is that 5.5.12 will work, as I expect the delta between that and .23 is bug
fixes.

Team,

1.    The COSMOS downloads page states that ?Apache Tomcat 5.5.23? is
required for the COSMOS web application.
2.    As part of my Early Adopter efforts, I ran into TWO situations?
a.    A product was certified on and running Tomcat 4.x (COSMOS web app
does not work on this platform)
b.    Another product was running on Tomcat 5.5.12 (Sheldon / Hubert, will
the COSMOS web app work on this version?)

I suspect that many of the more stable / mature / entrenched products out
there may not necessarily support the Tomcat 5.5.23.  What should our
strategy be?  Should we test & certify the COSMOS web app on additional
versions of Tomcat? If so, how far back in time do we go in regards to the
supported versions of Tomcat
