RE: [cobol-dev] Cobol and CORBA
|
Jens,
This
is what I found:
Orb2 - Support for COBOL is
planned.
Orbix 2000 - Support for COBOL is planned.
Orbix E2A Application
Server Platform - COBOL is supported.
I
looked at MicroFocus/Merant website, and they also have a solution for my
problem (NetExpress and Server Express).
I have
a customer who needs to put COBOL applications to the web. Instead of rewriting
the whole software, I will identify the legacy code that is important, and use
it. The apps are MicroFocus COBOL for Intel (PC-based).
Since
I will use J2EE architecture, we will have to develop a
Java-COBOL-Java integration.
When
using NetExpress + Server Expres, as well as IONA products, and also those
listed above, licenses must be purchased. But I'd like to use free
software.
Some
software that will be used:
1. OS:
Linux
2.
Language: Java/J2EE
3.
IDE: Eclipse (for Java and also for COBOL)
4. EJB
Container: JBOSS
So,
the problem is what (free/open source) sw integrator to use. Orb2 and Orbix
must be paid. I'll develop free software.
I hope
you can give me some ideas.
Best
regards,
Gustavo.
Hello
José,
could you have a look at http://www.puder.org/corba/matrix/ and give us a feedback?
Kind Regards
Jens
