Re: [cdt-dev] Goodbye and Thank You!

Hello Doug,

Thank you for all that you have given to the Eclipse community. You have been involved in many parts of Eclipse, from leading the CDT project to having a strong influence on the entire community, from your contributions in the architecture council and tools pmc, to mentoring countless projects and shaping EclipseCon's with your work on the EclipseCon program committee. The community rightly recognized your significant contribution with the Eclipse Community Lifetime Award at EclipseCon 2017. Your name is synonymous with CDT and you have had the perfect handle, cdtdoug, to go with that. I am delighted that you will still be available for the occasional consult as we continue the project forward and address the many opportunities and challenges that lie ahead. Thank you for the nomination and I am looking forward to being the CDT project lead, those are big shoes to fill.

I wish you the best of luck in your new role.

Thank you,
Jonah

Hey gang, I have some news to share with everyone. The active committers already know this.

I have left BlackBerry/QNX and will be taking on a new role at a different company that will take me away from the Eclipse community. It's a much needed change for me and a chance to re-energize with some former colleagues I really enjoyed working with. It was obviously a very hard decision as CDT has been a huge part of my life for almost 20 years. I will miss you all.

I have written a post with more, you can read it here https://medium.com/@dougschaefer/time-for-change-54156200cab8.

We have worked out a transition plan for the CDT project leadership role. Jonah Graham has kindly accepted our nomination and we will have a formal vote probably starting tomorrow. We'll use our CDT call tomorrow to talk about that.

I will be keeping this gmail account, cdtdoug, as my personal account as a reminder of where I came from. You can always reach me there if you need anything.

Thank you for everything you've done for the CDT and made this community so special to be a part of. Until we meet again.

Doug.
