[cdt-dev] CDT Release Plan 2015-16

Hello,

Here is the release plan that was agreed upon at the CDT call today.
Notice the replacement of our 8.9 release with an 8.8.1 to focus energies on 9.0.
9.0 development will be able to begin as early as next month once 8.8 branches.

- Release plan
    o CDT 8.8 September 26th with Mars SR1 (new features allowed)
    o CDT 8.8.1 February 26th with Mars SR2 (bug fix only)
    o CDT 9.0 Major release June 2016 with Neon

- Branching strategy for releases
    o 8.8 development continues on master until cdt_8_8 branch is created (around Aug 14)
    o 9.0 development starts on master once 8.8 is branched
    o 8.8.1 fixes and release will be done on the cdt_8_8 branch

The CDT 9.0 release is everyone's opportunity to work on valuable CDT features that
require a major release.  Don't miss this chance, we don't plan on doing another major
release in the near future.
