Re: [cdt-dev] CDT 9.0 Planning & Build Systems

I copied this from other "working groups". I am sure what is the problem with term? Anyway it totally does not matter, I can remove the other page
and merge with 9.0/build

If we don’t do it in 9.0, it likely doesn’t get done, especially if it’s API changing. And there is no “working group” just us doing what we can ;).

which is release independent. What do you want me to do with it? Remove and move content to 9.0 build?
What if don't do it in 9.0?

Hey gang,

I’ve added CDT 9 for Neon to our planning page. I’ve added the few things that we talked about at the CDT summit. It is here:

I’ve also been thinking about the build system. I’ve started writing down the requirements I see. Feel free to add in your ideas as well. It can be found here:

BTW, I’ve put in an order for a couple of ESP8266 chips. These little wonders have a Tensillica Xtensa microcontroller with wifi and gpio all in a $10 package. With my embedded hat on I really want to make it easy to add support for new boards with their toolchains and SDKs so we can get the CDT into the hands of these hobbyists as soon as possible after these boards hit the market. And there appears to be a lot more coming (e.g. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1598272670/chip-the-worlds-first-9-computer).

I’m still also looking at Raspberry Pi and it’s ARMv6 toolchain for Raspbian with support for Qt. Along with my interest in Qt for QNX, I really want to make Qt a first class citizen and make it as easy to set up the toolchain and qmake as it is in Qt Creator.

Also, I have the Arduino CDT in place so that’ll be the first segment of the hobbyist community we’re addressing. And even they are facing the same challenges with so many new boards coming out. They have a new system to help download the toolchains and settings files that I’d also like to add support for post Mars.

Lots to do if you’re looking for something to do ;)

Cheers,
Doug
