Yeah, I know, it’s just how much time I want to spend on it, especially since we’ve never actually released and the history will always be in the CDT repo.

Preserving the history is quite feasible and done in several cases,
Comment 8, shows an example script used for that specific case, which can be easily adjusted to your needs

I’m not sure what that means. My plan was to enable it in the Eclipse C/C++ Package (which includes Linux), but I’m not sure it’ll be ready. I hate to surprise the community with it without giving a good heads up on how to use it.
Talking to the Linuxtools guys, we are planning to set the toolbar as default, as soon as it become stable in this new repository.

I’ll see what I can do with the history. I’m not going to guarantee anything. But at the end of the day I will delete the launchbar and the history will remain in the CDT repo.
BTW, I’ll probably reuse the cdt.launchbar projects for the CDT extensions for the launch bar so that’ll help.
I suggest to remove it completely from cdt main repo then, so we don't have double source. There is only few people who consume it now, and they can fix their build
(and they reading this mailing list I suppose)
I assume you will preserve the history when you move it? And it will be another cdt repo with same access rights for current committers?

We have included the launchbar in our product but won't be a problem for us to change it. It solved our problem regarding organizing all the profile tools we have !

This will be done for the next Luna in February. The objective is to reach API freeze for then. And I guess, despite being pretty old, we haven’t really released the Launch Bar yet.
Doug, are you planning this change for Mars or the next Luna ?

Hey gang,
For the LaunchBar, I’d like to follow the org.eclipse.remote’s strategy of putting code that isn’t directly tied to the rest of the project (PTP in their case) into it’s own git repo. This will allow use to easily move the LaunchBar to a IDE commons project
if and when that happens. I will also rename the plug-ins and other things to remove CDT from them.
I’ll also do this in parallel and leave the current launch bar plug-ins where they and give people a chance to transition.
