Hi again,

restarting the HIPP did not help.  After some googling I found this old bug Tycho bug http://eclip.se/347963.
I followed the instructions and it looks like our HIPP is back in action.

If you run into an exception like this one:
org.apache.maven.InternalErrorException: Internal error: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Invalid portable string: .v20140827-1444
	at org.apache.maven.DefaultMaven.execute(DefaultMaven.java:168)

look to the above bug for answers (the invalid string could be something else).
