That hasn’t happened since 2009 so I’m not worried about it, now.

Why committers want to attach patches to bugzilla? Why not to keep everything on gerrit only?

Thanks Doug! Couldn't have been much fun.

So all new patches posted to Bugzilla must be asked to be posted to gerrit and marked as obsolete in Bugzilla. Will do.

Hey gang,

As I get ready to post the IP log to the Eclipse legal team for the 8.3 review, they have a great new tool that flags bugs and patch attachments that are missing iplog settings. I’ve gone through and cleaned all ours up as some of you may have noticed by the flood of bugzilla e-mails (about 500 of them). So that is done, finally, including the great year of 2008 when the debug guys posted every change to bugzilla for review. Glad that’s over :).

As I got into recent years, I noticed that we had a lot of patches still being posted to bugzilla. We’ve rightfully requested them to post them to Gerrit which most have done. However the patches are still live in bugzilla which is leading to double reporting in the IP log. And I had to look at each to make sure they were forwarded. Not a good time.

So as a policy, I’d like us to go exclusively with Gerrit for non-committer contributions. It gives us much better reporting of who’s actually contributing what. So please continue to forward them to Gerrit and if they do contribute a patch versus bugzillla, please mark it obsolete so it doesn’t show up in the report (or I end up going mad trying to clean them up at release review time).

Thanks!
Doug
