Did you by any chance open a bug against the extra white spaces between the inner windows? This is also a big show stopper for me as well and I hope there is a solution of it!

That and emacs keybindings are broken (I did raise a bug on that).
That's a big show stopper for me and forced me to 3.8 as well. I
tested M5 using 4.2, but I'm not sure if I can stay on it as I get
back into the new project wizard work.

At any rate, the platform team would appreciate bugs raised for the
things that bug you.
